MOTIVATION:

Your ability to stick with your academic tasks and work towards goals while overcoming challenges.

THIS SKILL IS GOOD TO PRIORITIZE IF…

You think you could performing at a higher level but you are holding back.

You find it difficult to get focused each day and would rather be doing something else (sometimes anything else).

On some days you are unclear as to why you are at University and whether it really matters.

You are motivated to do lots of things but not your studies – and so you wonder if studying is really for you.

STEP 1: WATCH THIS!

Set Goals

  • Set short and long term goals. Ensure they are specific and measurable – depicting what you hope to achieve and when and how you’ll achieve them.
  • Write a mission statement for yourself on why university is important to you. Post it on your mirror as a reminder.

Make it all Fit

  • Visit the LC Career Counsellor to identify majors that fit your goals or to identify potential careers that align with your major.
  • Meet with your professor if you are unclear on how to tackle an assignment/paper – lack of clarity can impact your motivation to start an assignment.

Reward Yourself

  • Track your progress on a chart/app etc.

 

  • Reward yourself for meeting your goals – small and large!

 

  • Create new short and/or long-term goals.
